Command + F problem

When I press command + F to search for something on a page, lets say safari for instance, it seems to carry across to all programs I have open.

Say I search a page for the word 'banana' on safari, then click into coda to find a line of code, the word 'banana' will be in the search field.

Is that default behaviour, or is something screwy on my system?
