After flipping through the pages of Squirm, a Vassar College erotica magazine, the Committee on College Life (CCL) voted to approve a student-run magazine that will feature nude pictures of Harvard undergraduates and articles about sexual issues at its meeting yesterday. It was 2 female students at Harvard that proposed the magazine.

yeah, i don't see the problem.

oh, gee, sexuality at a college... *shocked* i guess people aren't waiting until they're 30 to have sex (after getting married, of course) anymore.

and yes, yes i'm sure religious people are being persecuted by being forced to read it. i hope they protest.

look at it this way. the publication goes out, it becomes a fad for a period of time. all the guys buy it. it's got that naughty alure to it... tho it sounds like playboy or better, so it really doesn't venture deep into the smut kindom... anyway you've got a bunch of sexually active yet largely irresponsible guys with their... uh, i mean, reading it. perfect place for ads for birth control, campus health centers, and free clinics. Planned parenthood could co-sponsor. It'd be a great way to get a message straight into, forgive me, the penises of a bunch of college kids. At worst, it's raunchy entertainment; at best it could be a new form of sex ed. Either way, i'm glad they approved it.

I posted it as an item of interest story, it is a current event. Also to show that females from Harvard can start a tasteful magazine. ;)

    Squirm

One day I started a job filling in for a Vassar person who was on sabbattical. In the top drawer of her desk sat a copy of Squirm. Being paranoid, I thought it must be some sort of trap. But at the same time, I thought of how reckless it was for her to have left it there. Couldn't she have faced some sort of trouble if the wrong person saw it among her work papers?

I don't think Squirm is porn, but I have only seen small portions of one issue, so I do not know.

Meanwhile, years ago I nearly purchased the domain "harvardgirls.com" when it was still available. I figured everybody makes money in the porn industry, so why not make an ignoble living; it would beat being broke. (Harvard's also the name of a town, so the university couldn't have sued me, I think.)

If a few students want to publish a magazine like this I don't see why they shouldn't. Now if they start using money from the school, then I can see things getting messy.
