Compact digicam for mother

Hey all,
My mom needs a digital camera. I know a fair bit about cameras, but generally only higher end bridge cameras and dSLR's... not so much compact cams. What's a good, reliable, inexpensive camera appropriate for a mother and teacher?

Edit: While price isn't really a concern, I'd rather it not be overly expensive

the canon SD 600 is a nice small easy to use camera.. also the SD 630 (i think that's it) has a larger screen but no view-finder...
both are 6 MP cameras
