When I connect my MacBook to my external monitor the picture doesn't fill up the whole screen. I have BenQ 20.1" monitor. With the PC I set up the set up the resolution to 1680X1050 and the picture fill up the whole screen perfectly.
I did the same thing on Macbook but the display is the same size as the macbook. Why doesn't it fill up the whole screen?

you can either:
A) Press the Display button on your keyboard (should be F7)
or
2) Select "Spanning" (or something like that) in the Displays preference pane.

Yes, I did press F7 and my problem is it doesn't fill up the whole screen.
It shows exactly the same size and the Macbook screen on my 20.1 screen.

Go to the Displays pane in System Preferences and turn off mirroring.

Or stuff about with the resolutions. One of those should work.

Pressing F7 will swap between mirrored (what you're seeing) and extended (what you want).
