A recent Hardee's ad campaign featured in this article appears to be using GarageBand or Soundtrack:

Watch the "Fist Girl" ad (if you are adventurous enough to Windows Media Player on your computer...). And then listen to the various "Steel String Slide" loops in GarageBand...

Ironically, I created a littly ditty very similar to this about 6 months ago to compliment a video I shot of my wife stuffing her face, in jest, with waffles...

I believe all the garageband loops are also in Soundtrack and could even possibly be imported into other programs.

But now that you have Garageband you'll hear those instruments and such a lot. I remember watching "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance" and hearing some of the strings loops when they were taste testing some food.
