i've just started using VPC, and now i've got to get some folders off it and onto my PowerBook HD. the help files that come with VPC say that you can just drag and drop... i could see how this could work when dragging from the Mac to VPC.. but whenever i try to drag from VPC the cursor doesn't move out of the VPC window... so i can't even get to my desktop.

i'm going to try mounting the VPC drive image, but that means you have to shut down VPC, and it would be alot easier to just copy stuff when VPC is running.

if anyone can help me out that would be great. :)

i had that same problem with a pirated copy of VPC and then realized that it was stupid to even be running it because i can do everything that i was using vpc for just as well on os x. there is supposed to be a setting when you install to allow your drive to be shared between systems running, but i could never find it. i assume it's something you need a real install disc for.

maybe i'll just try upgrading to 6... might help.

and the only reason i'm using it is because PC's have a half decent batch downloading app. Macs don't have anything. we've still got to sit here and go 'save target as...'

does anyone else know how to fix this problem?

a good batch downloading app for Mac would be good as well.

I think you'll just have to mount VPC as a harddrive --- that's what I do to transfer files

that works great ---- I can't think of anything else?

just like my sig says, "w00t! :D i am stoked!"

i just upgraded to ver.6 and then installed the 'additions' or whatever they're called and now i can just drag & drop to my HD or anywhere. :D

how do you mount the VPC drive image as a hard drive? i thought that was only on versions before version 4?

could you post how you go about that? that would be helpful as well. :)

Over HTTP, I use a *nix program called wget (now replaced by curl). You can mirror entire web sites if you wish.

Over FTP, I use another *nix program called ncftp. It can gather a queue of files to get then start at a later time or immediately.

    curl download page - http://www.qtm.net/~saywake/curl/index.php3
    ncftp download page - http://www.ncftp.com/download/

Why download something that already is bundled with Max OS X?
