It's great, but it's only round one, and the California Supreme Court is not the most sympathetic court.
It's another brick in the wall. Cases are also being heard in several other states, and I suspect that at least some of these courts will be forced to conclude that if equal protection under the law is to mean anything, it has to apply here. In the long run, opponents of civil rights will always lose.
It's a step in the right direction -- finally. Let's hope it holds up on appeal.
