That is really really strange. My neighbors were on that cruise, luckly they did not get hurt other than a few bumps and bruises.

Sounds like one of those really rare freak accidents you don't want to be a part of...

    Usually cruises are extremely safe.

Ships in general have the best safety record of pretty much all transportation methods.

Oh joy, and with absolutely no clue as to why the ship did that, its owners have sent it to New York, to be put right back into service! link

Where do they hire the guys who make these decisions? FEMA? NASA?

That must have been awkward for the people on the nude sunbathing deck.

This ship uses the old propeller and rudder design instead of the new "azipod" technology which could have attributed to the accident. I still dont know why Princess doesnt switch to azipods on their new ships.

Well, perhaps they will now seriously considering switching to the new rudder design.

Money....and azipods can lose their minds, too. Boats have been steered with rudders for thousands of years, just because it didn't have the latest and greates did not attribute anything to the accident.

Geez, a boat rocks a bit and all people go crazy :D
yeah, yeah, I know it should not happen to the boat of that size. It is good that no one has fallen over the board.

I'm guessing something got fouled up with the wave dampers. I'm not entirely sure how they work, but I believe they're huge counterweights located near the keel of the ship that shift to reduce the rolling of the ship. If they got stuck in the wrong position, I can see a ship listing.

Maybe some pirates were to blame. :)

This is the second boating accident I've heard of in the last year that resulted from human error. APL Panama anyone (granted it was a cargo ship and not a cruise ship).

So did it list 15 degrees or 38 degrees? Big difference between the two...

Actually, there were a bunch of left-leaning liberals on that particular cruise. Thank you, thank you, I'll be in town all week. <bows>
