Damn! Maybe we were a LITTLE hard on Rummy after all.

Just a little. Looks like he's not quite the thick-headed dunce that his boss is:

    CNN

Sorta makes you wonder if the real reason Rummy was let go was because he was no longer fully on board with his boss's stubborn "stay the course" mentality. Reading between the lines, Bush has no intention of doing anything differently, other than moving around the deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's all hindsight. A blind monkey could see that it's not working. Well, maybe not all blind monkeys....

You need to edit your post and insert one of the many monkey faces of George.

You know that thing Bush said about how he was gonna stuck by his guns, even if the only people who believed in it were him, Laura and their dog?

    He's almost there.

Either the Saturday night postings are getting much funnier, or I'm just drunk.

I think it's fair to say this wasn't "Rumsfeld's War." I think Bush and his whole inner circle is to blame.

As for why he was let go, it seems to me that he's the fall guy. They let him go, make some minor policy changes, and then the stalling, stay-the-course game goes on.

The least he could do is admit that he and his neo con playmates totally effed up. To blame it on US forces is pretty lame. Be a man for once in your life, rummy!

So why was this memo leaked now, and by whom? Is Rummy attempting to rehabilitate his image for the history books, like a latter-day Robert McNamara?

Doesn't do anything in rehabilitating his image for me. He clearly still doesn't have a clue what to do, and any idiot can see the present what-is-laughingly-referred-to-as-policy is not achieving anything but total meltdown. And he's still responsible for mass murder.

It's located here. But don't waste your time with it. It's for guinea pigs who were part of an experiment.

Doesn't work for me either, but the timing of the leak is interesting. Rummy is probably thinking of his legacy.

Well, as a student of history, I'm sure we'll look back on this as just the growing pains of his legacy.

But let us not forget the idiocy of going into Iraq without a viable plan for the peace. Rumsfeld threatened any general with firing if they even brought up the discussion of what to do once we arrived in Baghdad.

I find it terrifying that Bush said (and everyone's repeating) that he wasn't looking for a "graceful exit". In my mind.. that means he's looking for the exact opposite, a "graceless exit" AKA, a "messy exit". I guess it's just my cynical mind.
