Dark exposure from Kodak DSC.

    Does he know how to change the settings on a camera? Did he change on by accident?

    exposure compensation?

    I'll bet he has the exposure compensation setting set all the way to "dark", like -2 maybe.

    Perhaps you can tell him to find the "return to factory defaults" menue pick.

    If nothing else ask him to try a +2 setting and see what happens

    Yes they do wear out but 2 or 3 thousand exposures is still not very many. I bet the shutter will last 10X that long.
