Found this intriguing little article on macosxhints. The guy curiously tried to send a vCard from his cell phone to the InfraRed port on his iMac G5 and it received it. Can anyone confirm this on the G5 or any of the new Intels?

My question then is, can it only receive information, or can it send too? Maybe a new way to sync your Palm device? Maybe maybe.

    Here's the article.

EDIT: Ok, so, I read the article again, then read the comments on the article. No one that posted comments could get it to work nor could the OP get it to work again. So yeah. One of the moderators can trash this if they want. Or, all you Mac Rumors dwellers who have spare time can try to get it to work. It would be wicked if it could be hacked to transfer data to a phone with IR or a Palm.

It's a terrible wasted opportunity not being able to use it for IR data, even if it's just for Cell phone sync etc.. as a lot of people out there don't have Bluetooth. Even worse that the MBPro doesn't seem to make use of it's IR port either. IR is still a useful xfer connection - for small files.
