Dell and Creative: Challenged by the iPod?

    Wow. Amazingly positive, but perhaps over optimistic. I don't think that a single product (in this case the Mac mini) can change the marketplace quite as much as this artical suggests towards the end!

    I don't think they're overly optimistic in that article.

    In the short term, they say, Apple could build up another couple points of market share. Big news for Apple who doesn't HAVE that many points, but not a big dent to the PC industry. That's plenty of good news, and I agree with that speculation. And as they point out, Apple already is very profitable, with great R&D.

    In the LONG term they suggest that could grow into double digits (Dell has 17%). Looking long-term, that does seem possible.

    Apple have a slight lead here in developed product, it'll take 9 months for a response, even if the the threat of the Mac mini is realised. Obviously Apple can only grow as well as it can convert and/or produce units...Mr Rollins should be worried longer term.
