    Hi there,

I have an 15" Notebook running Linux at the moment. I use it as a desktop replacement, but I also have to be mobile once in a while. I wanted to buy the MB, but I guess its screen is too small. I neither want to buy a seperate screen for it. So I guess I will wait for the MBP to have C2D. Does anyone have an idea how long it will take for them to appear? And do you have any other hints on my decision?

    Thanks, Arne

Core Two Duo. Also known as the Merom. The processor is scheduled to be released in August, I assume the MBP with that processor will be released around the same time.

C2D (i guess you mean core duo version 2 = merom) will be there in august. i also think the MBP will immediately go C2D then.

aside of that i would recommend an external screen. it's cheaper and larger than buying a large notebook. and it saves your notebooks screen so it will last longer.

Ah, I get it (I had to think for five minutes :))

    Core 2 Duo...

The MacBook Pro will get the Core 2 Duo when Intel has them ready I suppose. They say it will become available in the 3rd quarter of 2006 (July-September).

    Edit: I'm much to slow...

okay, I guess I will just wait. What about the heating-problems with the current MBP's? Are they already fixed in the units now shipping? Will they be fixed in the new MBP's?

I wouldnt count on hot Apple portables becoming cooler anytime in the near future. Especially since its already been discovered that even the new MB's have thermal grease application issues.

I was in the Apple store near my house the other day, the heat complaints have gotten to the point where sales reps actually warn people that they are indeed hot before they buy them, the heat has gone from a defect to "just the way they are"

Well... what choice do I have? ;) I can't stand my Linux any more, I really start hating it because sometimes it does really weired things (like disabling WLAN on standby and letting me type a bunch of commands to get it running again).

    Thanks for your advice though
