Researching buying a computer for my son and was considering a refurb July, 11 Mini 2.5 i5 with at least 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HD and AMD Radeon HD 6630M. New on Amazon these are listed at $699.

Apple store had same model refurb listed at same $699.

I noticed today that the refurb store had the same release date but the 2.7 i7 with more (8GB) RAM and same HD and Graphics card listed at $679.

I quickly purchased the 2.7GHz and called Apple to make sure this was indeed the same gen with faster processor and more RAM at $20 cheeper.

They researched and said it must be a mistake (and I should definitely complete the purchase - which I did) and would be "red flagging it." I now see that that itineration is no longer available.

So, was the 2.5 model overpriced or the 2.7 incorrectly underpriced.

I also see for point of reference the 2.7 i7 model with 256 SSD and 4GB is listed at $889.

    Thanks for the feedback

I was in the refurb iMac store yesterday and the same thing was happening there with the 21.5" 2011 models. The 2.8 quad core i7 was $20 less than the 2.7 quad core i5.

Clearly getting mid 2011 2.7 i7 and 8 GB RAM for $20 less ($679) then the same model with 2.5, i5 and 4GB (same HD and dedicated graphics) is the better deal.

Question is, was it that the 2.5 model the one that was incorrectly (overly so) priced?
