Did my backup battery arrive DOA?

I've owned my Air for about 4 months now, and on the rare occasion that it sits unused for a few days, I always find that the clock has reset itself to something like 1-1-08. I'm guessing there's an internal battery to blame?

There's no backup battery in the MacBook Air. It's linked with the internal battery.
