Id like to point out it was scenarios and not truths.

if you cant see the comments about todays school system (ahem, jails) in his scenarios, then why even comment about them?

I was commenting on the noticeably Libertarian slant to your quoted piece. Phrases like "Billy grows up normal" I find rather worrying, somehow.

so i assume you could provide us with links to show that the proposed scenarios are anything more than a bunch of politically slanted crap? i'd love to read news stories about a swat team arriving to arrest donny and mark, and heck, maybe we could even pitch it to the networks as a tv show!

A disturbing parallel to the last tidbit in the OP:

Just one more thing this world has come to.

    Exatly.

The author of the piece seems to love slamming the ACLU any chance he gets. I also find it worrying that they think beating children (paddling at school, parent beating kid for breaking window) makes them "normal".

Show me an instance the SWAT team was ever called to break up a fight at school. Every time it happened at my high school a teacher would always just walk up to the crowd of kids and everyone would run away.

These are clearly extremes, but I think they do still point out that the elders of our society turned out (for the most part) ok - but they seem to forget that and we seem to have taken a turn against personal responsibility and goes too far in overreacting to smaller events.

At a literal level, it goes to far. Highlighting the about-face in society, on point.

If you can't get the boy to the boobies, bring the boobies to the boy. :D Another lesson in why side-hugs are the best policy. :p Or, erm, maybe this was really a case of attempted murder? Suffocation in between? Forget how tall the boy was...how big were the breasts?? ;)

    Truth.

Overanalysis of the scenarios in the OP's post is pointless, the idea is that these scenarios do actually illustrate (in a humorous, exaggerated fashion) the kinds of changes taking place.

My dad remembers fist fights and big circles of chanting kids at school, and both my parents remember their hands being slapped with rulers. Nowadays either of those things, previously considered relatively normal, would be heinous crimes.

That was very poorly written and failed in trying to make an actually somewhat valid point. Maybe we've gone too far, but not that far. And you can't exactly say things were perfect back then. Ask any emotional cripple who actually has been beaten, either by a school mate or relative.

That's because you haven't taught in a school where a cross-section of outrageous news stories cherry-picked from around the country are magically consolidated into one institution.

IF, and that's a big if, this is true... who again said we are far away from those examples? ;)
