    Hi.

I have a power book G4 and my hard drive continuously stops and starts spinning again. I've checked the option to "go sleep when possible" at the energy settings, but I don't understand why it keeps waking up even when the computer is idle (for example, when I am reading something).

    Any clues on this matter?

Btw, I know about the disk because of the sound it makes whenever it stops or starts over.

    Thanks a lot.
    Lásaro.

Is Mail running, and checking for new mail at regular intervals?

Do you use/have any widgets that regularly updates themselves with info from the Internet?

    Is a browser running?

Does the screen saver kick in after some minutes if the machine is idle?

do you have a bluetooth mouse/keyboard. I have an iBook G4 and it had that problem with them aswell. Also are you talking about when your computer is closed or when you are working on it?

    checking

    Hi. Thanks for the replies.

I don't have any widgets running, but yes, the browser is normally open and Mail as well. Mail checks checks for new stuff every 3 minutes, and the disk thing happens more often. I am going to increase the time anyway just to check that.

As for bluetooth gadgets, I don't have any and bluetooth is even disabled.

I'll check the Mail thing and let you know.

    Thanks a lot.
