I'm wondering how much longer the people being held at Gitmo will be of any intelligence value. Presumably their comrades know something is up since their buddy hasn't been seen or heard from for 3 years, or any plans they've been working on have expired or been carried out by now. Very little actionable intelligence can be left IMHO. At this point we need to charge these guys and start giving them jail sentences upon conviction.

Of course any of them that we let go now will probably be more than happy to join any kind of fight against us, but symbolically they recruit many many more by their imprisonment. And the rest of the world has to be assuming that if we torture some prisoners, that we probably at least mistreat most of them if not outright torture many. Doesn't matter if it's true or not now, impressions are what counts and we've blown it there. And that impression isn't likely to change any time soon.
