I've noticed this for a while but then I began to think that the issue might get worse as time goes on, so I want to know if this is a major issue or not.

First I believe that both parts of the hinge should be flush with the case but this one is not:

Here is the other one that is flush with the case:

Finally when the screen is closed one latch comes down before the other which is what leads me to believe that the screen is warped:

I was having the same thoughts with my pro. Mine looks exactly like yours on the hinges, but there isnt any faulty movement so I'm ok with it. I wouldn't necessarily worry as Apples crafstmanship seems to vary slightly on these models from what I've gathered on these forums.

mine is also like that but not quite as bad. I don't know if this was good for my MBP, but i set about 4 1000 page school books goes away for a while. I don't blame this on apple but rather my self. I dropped the poor thing about a month after I got it.

Mine doesnt have that large of a gap on the right.

but the magnetic latch reason is null. Mine does it too. (left goes down first)

My guess is that the magnet is not directly centered.
