Does anyone here celebrate their dogs birthday? My chocolate lab turned 1 today, and my mom bought a cake, and turned into a big thing (with the help of my seven and eight year old sisters). What would you call 'too far' in celebrating a doggie b-day?

    Okay I take it back.

Going too far would be that plus having 'It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes!' play in the background.

I thinks it's kind of silly. The dog has no idea what is going on, or what all the commotion is about.

I celebrate bdays for my cats. They both get to split a can of tuna and we spend far more than our regular amount of time chasing a string that I run all around our place.

They don't have to understand it to feel loved. My guys know more on those days than any other how much I want them to be around. I think they can appreciate that much.

We don't know when our dog's birthday is, but she turns three in a week or two - might just have to give her her first beer - 3 = 21 in dog years, so she's legal now.

    D :D

They give us loyality, affection, and love every day, they deserve much more! Cat & dog owners are a special group. We think of them as family. Celebrating a B-Day it just natural.

To them its a special time, enjoyment!

We forgot this year  :D . Gracie's birthday is on Pearl Harbor
day, Dec. 7th. She just turned 4. She is a little Rat Terrier, by the
    way.

actually, as an owner of shar peis, that one there has a brush coat, and it feels the same way. irritates your skin if you play to rough with them.

We at least note our hedgehogs' birthdays, usually they get as many treats as they can eat. that's a lot. at very least they get a happy birthday snuggle...

    :)
