Just seen it on telly. Phew! That is one amazing piece of work.
Go get the DVD...its even more amazing, and im not sure what the tv edits out in england, but here in the states i dont even think they willl play it...about 4 months ago they re-released this movie in select theatres and let me tell you, one of the best nights of my life...but the DVD has some amazing stuff on it....
I don't imagine they can have edited much out. TV is pretty no-holds-barred over here. No ads either, because it was BBC. I think I need a rest after that, anyway. Like six months.
Take some time to actually research what the film is about. It's not as open minded than one might think. You'd be surprised how many people I know who claim it's depth as a movie and love to explain it to me. Watch the original, read the Philosophy of Time Travel book on the DVD, do the puzzle on DonnieDarko.com and do some research on Google, then watch the Director's Cut. It's really a cool and interesting read.
Ah very nice. Darko is a great movie, great that you probably saw it un edited and with no ads, very nice
Can't I just be blown away by the movie?
I LOVE that movie, I saw it during its original release in a small indie theatre in S.F.. Blew me away!
Get the Director's cut on DVD,
you should have seen the over analyzation of harry potter in my british literature class
doesn't that just take away 90% of the fun in a book/movie
Title won't edit
As long as it's after 9PM, they can put on pretty much anything but porn
There you go Skunk.
I watched it too, my wife said "Not the strangest film in the history of the universe... but a bloody close second..!"
Ah. Cheers, mate.
What's Number One, then?
You don't watch Channel Five, I take it?
They were showing it live on the big screen simultaneously in Kensington Gardens this evening too. Really wanted to go but we were busy.
Donnie darko is an overrated Jacob's Ladder rip-off.
There's always one...
i heard great things about this so i politely asked my mum to get me this for my birthday... only my girlfriend got me it too! so i own both the original and the directors cut DVD's
fantastic film. my lecturer told me i need to watch it twice to understand (like the Matrix i suppose), but me and my girlfriend saw there dissecting the whole thing shot by shot. a little sad i know but i just HAD to know what was going on.
this, Requiem for a Dream, Labyrinth and Quadrophenia are some of the greatest films i've ever seen. oh and 24 Hour Party People
I don't think I understood it. Is there more to it than meets the eye? I mean, I know there's always more to something than meets the eye, but is there something particularly special about this film?
Admittedly, I did see it at a party...
...with 15,000 other people! Well, it was more of a live concert over New Years Eve really, and they played it (without sound) to some pretty crazy tunes (hippie stuff, not my personal favourite, but hey, it was fun all the same).
So are you guys recommending I watch it again, and with sound this time? It just seemed a bit weird for my tastes, but that's a very superficial view.
The lack of sound might possibly have compromised your appreciation.
Yeah, true. I just thought it looked a bit too weird. Bah, I'll give it another try all the same.
I saw this film about 5 times in the theater. It's great! Glad you liked it!
I never quite figured out what it was about.....
But it was an excellent movie!
The soundtrack is also quite good (well I like it, but I have some strange music tastes)
Edit: eric, that rabbit was terrifying!
Bought it and watched it several months ago. That rabbit just creeped me out.
