some people may just have tooo much time on their hands me thinks
Pointless, but neat
I'll try it out when I've finished work.
and now I want an iPod color.
Stupid 3ed gen with it's non color screen resulting in poor doom playing ability.
Wow--I read about this effort back before there WERE color iPods, and I had my doubts that it would ever be done. Not only was it done, it was done for the color models!
High geek-fun factor.
And it does work (sort of) on newer non-color iPods:
"It is playable on the Ipod photo.
It "works" on 1-4G's and Mini 1G/2G"
Also lots of other games and apps available or in the works--for the brave:
Hmm, I can't get it to work. I've tried both links and just end up with a small .tar file that won't open.
Still doesn't look as good as the Doom3 I'm playing on my iPod.
When the iPod gets its fabled Video playback in the next gen you will be able to play Doom 3!!
Wheather you would actually want to play it is another matter.
nice try with the photo dejo lol. This sounds cool with Doom on the iPod ^_^. I tried installing iPod Linux on my iPod once, but i could never get it right, so i just gave up lol. Hopefully they'll create a better installer some time.
iPod Linux itself is still not recommended on color iPods, although it seems that it can be made to work.
I too will wait until iPod Linux is more finished on the color models, and then I'll go for Doom.
Eek is right. Considering that my gaming PC (Athlon 64 3200+, 512M RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro video) can't play it beyond 800x600! And to think, that PC was top of the line when I built it (and that wasn't a lont time ago.)
Doom 3 runs sluggish on my ati 9800 pro. I Can't imagine this being much worse.
reminds me of my April fools post of Doom3 on an iPod:
Nagromme: thanks for those links!
