    w00t!

I'd pay to see a D00M movie. I hate the game, but a movie would be awesome! :D

would probably have been better if they based it more off the books that they did a few years back, man the first two books were awesome, but ill probably see this just because i love the games

look how close its being released to halloween. If this is the best "horror" movie out then people will definitely go see it.

I hope that at least the movie will be better than the game...

Here's what one of my friends wrote on the subject. I pretty much agree.

It'd be cool if they did the whole movie with the camera angle only showning the lead's hands/weapons. Real FPS style.

Actually no it wouldn't. There is absolutely zero chance of this movie being cool.

Nermal, thanks for the link. Your friend indeed summed it up quite nicely.

What is up with that lame preview? Isn't it supposed to make me _want_ to see the movie?

Watched the trailer via Apple and found myself thinking "Um, Resident Evil?"

Now if ID stumped up there own cash and hired a directer to do it...

Same reason i havn't been to watch Fantastic Four, just arsed it all up really.

    Just watched the trailer again.

Even worse the 2nd time round.

A cool indie film with weird religous and sci fi horror overtones would have worked much better.

Dog Soldiers shows you don't need a big budget to get results.

And anyway, the real star of Doom was always the guns, monstor and the enviroment.

At least the Rock feels "right", plays to his strenghs and knows his limits like Arnie

If this movie ever comes to Russia, I'll watch it.

It's interesting to see the 'remake' of Doom 3 after all :D

    ive been in the Doom movie discussion on other forums before, so in a nutshell;

I love Doom. the concept of hell on mars is beautiful. its brilliant.

the movie will be bad. i mean... the Rock...

Doom was scary because it was YOU against hell. one person. not a team. then again films cant really have just 1 person without being called arty.

I won't see this at the cinema unless it gets rave reviews. but i'll watch it on DVD. for how long I dont know. i mean i just watched Cabin Fever... probably one of the worst films i have ever seen. Hollywood has a lot to make up for.

Maybe they should make a movie of people playing Doom at a LAN party... Of course, the l33t-speak would need subtitles though. I'd really love to see some g33ks sitting 'round pwning each other. :)

    Wrong.

It might be cool if they did it in an Alien style (ie, expecting at least a marginal IQ from the audience)... but they won't. It's going to be like House of the Dead, Resident Evil, et cetera... stupid Hollywood.

    This looks terrible.

Apart from anything else... "the final 10% of the human genome has just been discovered" - on Mars of course... where exactly have these people been over the last 10 years?

i saw the trailer and i thought it didn't look that bad. until about 60% of the way through it just dropped... badly. the demons/people with altered genomes looked pathetic.

still. im quite a Doom fan. i even bought Doom 64  which was actually quite good. very spooky.

Except, judging from an interview I read recently, it is on Mars and it does have space marines. However, the central concept is still "Resident Evil in space", which is utterly pointless, not to mention the "final 10%" utter nonsense, which results in total and utter stupidity. (Not, mind you, that I would watch a Doom movie even if they'd done it right, but at least then the concept wouldn't fill me with disgust.)

I'm not a hardcore Doom fan but I think it looks pretty cool. I will definitely see it.

Does the movie have anything to do with the game(s) at all? Any hints in the trailer? I heard they've been taking some "artistic liberties"...

It will probably suck hard... like most game-based movies :(
