    Hi Chaps

Here's the problem. I'm currently using a dialup 56k connection and I was trying todownload updates for my PB. I currently run OS X 10.4.2. However the files don't always load in before the connection disconnects and if I try to resume the download from where it stopped, it doesn't let me, instead it starts from the beginning!! This is when I am using software update. SO I though it might be easier to download the patches directly from the Apple website but safari doesn't allow resume downloads and neither does firefox.

Can anyone tell me what the best download manger that allows you to resume downloads for OS X is? I used leechget on XP, buit there's no equivalent for OS X. Thanks

You should download the patches from apples downloads area. And I believe safari in Tiger does allow for completing downloads. I don't really know how well it works but if you go to your downloads window an incomplete download will have a small orange button with a circular arrow in it which i believe is the resume button.

When I was stuck on dialup, I used iGetter - it was pretty good for that sort of thing, and had options that were important to me on dialup - mainly, the ability to hang up when the download was complete, or even shut down the computer when all downloads were complete - that way, I could leave a d/l going throughout the night while I slept, without worrying about it.
