Dragging widgets expands them?!?

OK, I searched but did not find this on the forums, but my search-fu is weak.

I assume I'm one of seven Tiger users who are unaware of this feature.

However, for the first time ever, I dragged a widget from the bar instead of clicking to launch it, and saw the icon morph into the widget (and back to the icon if I dragged it back before releasing the mouse).

Has this always been there in Tiger?

Is there anyone else who wasn't aware of it?

Yup this has always been in Tiger. Apple makes it visually appealing. I love how you can just make it change size in instances. I love the splash effect too. From what I had heard, it was supposed to make a water droplet run down your screen from the splash. That's just what I heard before Tiger came out.

    I knew about this.

but then ,after I read the post, I thought that he wrote that it works the other way around, so I dragged a widget back to the bar.

    it just hides under it.

Shacky, the imageshack frog, just hid under there like the silly froggy he is!

Silly Shacky, will you ever learn?

Nah, I meant if you don't let up the mouse button.

Looks like I've yet to find one of the other six who were unaware of this....

Try holding "shift" while you're dragging the widget out. It slows the effect down just like Exposé/maximize/minimize.

    Sorry... late here.

I meant: if you click on a widget and drag it out, it morphs into the widget (as you know), but, if you do NOT release the mouse button but instead drag the morphed widget back to the bar, it morphs back to the icon.

So... press mouse, drag widget off, drag widget back on, THEN release mouse.

Yeah, well, um, hey... widgets are just eye candy and I'm a serious kind of Mac user, yeah, that's it, so, um, I just noticed it.

But I'm glad you still love me. It's good to know the feeling's mutual. I'll try to make it there for prom. Still looking for an $8 suit.....

There is a way to bring up the widgets menu and add widgets via the keyboard. I can't remember how to do it though and I'm on Panther so that doesn't help :p
You can also do the slow thing with Expose the shift key and press F9, F10, F11

Oh, man. I'm also a serious mac user.
I totally use my PowerBook, a professional Machine, for more than browsing MR and playing snood. I can do things in terminal!

And JSW-- find a place for $5 handsome cab rides, and I'd be yours forever!
(you have to hide a nano in a bouquet though... in the packaging. I don't want no thorns scratching up my 4 gig white nano. Allow me to stress how much a scratched 4 gig white nano would suck. :D)

and if you hold down alt, you can close a widget w/o opening the widget bar!

    HOLD DOWN SHIFT, TOO!

    :D

    Dear OS X,
I love you. You're so pretty.
    Hugs 'n' Love,
    KT

Terminal is powerful and deadly in the wrong hands. *hugs iBook* I'll never have to wash another dirty window for as long as I live. I can eat a nice healthy apple instead of working myself to death over a stupid spot on a Window.

Hey JSW, I'm with you, man. I didn't know about it either. I haven't played with Dashboard all that much so there are probably a lot more things about it I don't know. That's pretty cool! (Widget goes on, widget goes off, widget goes on, widget goes off...)

Also if you are in Dashboard and you press the F4 key, nothing happens.

I'm not sure if this is documented or not.

Oh, KT dear, you'd be worth a $6 handsome cab ride, maybe even $7. I'll look around.

But a 4 gig white nano? For prom? This spring? When the 8 gig nanos are out?

What sort of prom date would stoop so low?
