Frankly, it doesn't sound like a very appealing job to me. All the job seems to entail is creating digital version of someone else's design sketches. And if Apple won't even consider it a "stepping stone" to a design position, then it doesn't sound like a very good deal.

lol...if i wasn't doing architecture (and lived in California) i'd be perfect for that...Rhino is my best skill :D

*challenge anyone here to a Rhino duel*

but alas, as said above, it does not lead into design itself

*note: if they work on Rhino...it means ALL apple products are designed in Windows!!!

I'm amazed that they have people doing that as their entire job. I would have thought that their Designers could surface model their own ideas and that their engineers would be able to communicate with the designers and create surface models from sketches. Especially in such a small team.

I guess I am lucky that I get to do the whole process from sketches to production ready.

I was wondering about that. Does Rhino only work on Windows or does it work on SGI, Sun, Linux etc as well?

It says Alias studio or Rhino. I would assume that if you can do one you can do the other so maybe they don't use Rhino. For example, I can work in Inventor or Solidworks as they both do the same thing more or less with slight differences in procedure.
