The latest bunch of video shows that Final Fantasy is shaping up to be my kind of final fantasy…*Classic Final Fantasy. :D

    The New Videos:
    Dungeon
    Job Editor
    World Map
    Town
    Battle
    Intro

    Some older news:

    The Teaser Video (Sweet)
    Japanese TV Commercial (YouTube quality)
Lucky Japanese players will be able to download the soundtrack on iTunes. Link :(
    Gamespots' screenshots collection Here. (Lots)
    RPGFan's screenshots collection here.
    Some scans here.
    The official teaser site.
    The Japanese boxart.

    A famitsu review. (9-8-9-8)

Some details about the game can be found here.

The stylus interface even looks very well done. It might actually be easier to play with the stylus than with the old style controls.

Only thing that looks like than perfect is the 3 or so seconds loading time. But, given how they pushed the DS to its limit, I'll let it slip. ;)

I dislike how the characters don't run up and actually attack the enemies - ala 'FFVII'.

Looks nice besides that, and I'll most assurdly get it. But man, I wish they would've added that...

That's not a remake of Final Fantasy VI (USIII) is it?!?

No, it's a remake of the third release in Japan, which was never released in the US.

I've never understood why people are so hung up on that. Is it really that big of a deal?

Can't wait for it :) Still to complete FF1, then onto 2. Should be ready for 3 when it comes to the UK.

Looks like a definite buy for me... now let's just pray that Chrono Trigger is remade in the FFIII 3D Style :)

This is one of my reasons for wanting a DS! :D

Still, I was a little miffed to find out I can get FF1-6 on the GBA... minus FF3.

Here's hoping they release an FF collection that has all the GBA games on it for DS. :\

Isn't FF III DS supposed to be Wi-Fi compatible? How will that work?

The graphics on this game look really amazing for the DS. I think I might loose my FF virginity to this game. What do you all say?

Go for it :) my first proper FF game was the FF1 GBA remake and I found it outstanding. Even today it's a great game. I don't care much for console RPGs (including FF7 and Tales of Symphonia).

Hate to break it to you, but, 'Final Fantasy' is a 'console RPG'.

    You're living a lie.

I'm looking forward to this. Square hasn't made a decent game since Chrono Trigger (imho), and this is enough of an upgrade it might almost be considered a "new game." Hopefully it'll retain its classic elements instead of this FFX style walk in a straight line for 5 screens, fight a boss, repeat 20 times, then win garbage.

I'll take writing, story, and exploration over graphics any day.

Frivolous! So how comes I'm playing it on my GBA :)
perhaps I could have been a little clearer and said I don't like console RPG's for sitting infront of a TV with the lack of portability, or that I'm not a fan of 3D ones with silly constant cutscenes and filler content, barring this FFIII as it's a 2D port.
    I don't like console RPGs.

Uh...because FF 1-6 was originally on consoles (NES, Famicom, SNES, Super Famicom)?...I guess that makes it a console RPG.

3rd explanation, as clear and concise as I can possibly be-

it's portable. it has a close-lid sleep feature for instant re-pick up. I can play it on long journeys (hint hint). I'm not pushing through menu systems on a big screen.

The way I see it FF5,7+ are console RPGs as they are not on handhelds yet. which have handheld features (quick save, sleep etc).
