Whenever I add songs to my itunes library from a folder iTunes imports double songs. Whether I drag in songs from a folder or use the Add to library feature my iTunes doubles each song. Why and can I stop this? Also is there an easier way to delete duplicate songs other than having iTunes show you them? Like a delete duplicate songs feature or something?

However if you want iTunes to keep your library organized, the above isn't a solution.

The source of this issue is most likely that you have have M3U playlists in a folder of MP3s you are trying to import. iTunes imports once for the M3U and once for each MP3, giving you two of each MP3.

Remove the M3U before import, or import only the M3U.
