my dvd-rw drive isn't working in my ibook. when i look at system profiler it gives me all of the details of the drive. i even opened the ibook and it was all hooked up correctly. perhaps it's not mounting or some other strange reason. this is what systems profiler says:

MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-845S:

Firmware Revision: D100
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)
Profile Path: None
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RAM, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Media: No

when i hit the eject button it doesn't make any noise. i can't push any disc's into the slot either. i'm really confused.

So is something stuck in there? Have you tried booting up and holding the mouse button down? If that doesn't work, I sometimes find that gently prying the another disc in while holding the EJECT key (repetitively pressing it, if you like) can get things moving again. Be careful though. :)
