Ok i know DVD are written in MPEG2 format. My question is are there any players out there that can read DVDs in MPEG4. A friend of mine just asked me to find out for him. To my knowledge it doesn't seem possible but i thought i would present the question to this wealth of knowledge to prove me wrong.
Is it possible to make a DVD that is encoded in MPEG4 or is it only possible to be done in MPEG2?

MPEG2. That's it. If a DVD player will read MPEG4 it will say on the machine. Just like a DVD player might say it can read Video CD's. Although I'm not certain there is a DVD player that can play MPEG4. http://www.VCDhelp.com might provide an answer if you look in their players section.

DVD"s *are* Mpeg2. You cannot make a "DVD" that is Mpeg4. You can burn Mpeg 4 files onto a DVD though. But just not in DVD format.
