if you're using OS X, go with Mail, unless you need specific functionality that it doesn't provide. Overall, Mail has the best integration with other apps, seems faster, and is by far easier to use. Plus, the junk-mail filter on Mail is unsurpassed. I cut down from about 100 spams per week to about 1 per month...

i personally like mail, but i know what ur saying about eudora, i used to use that for my pc, and still do, although my pc is like 8000 miles away; but mails works great.

i know some ppl will hate me for saying this, but if you want a mail app that has almost every base covered, go with entourage in the ms office suite, its a pretty good app, specially if u have all the vcards.

I used Eudora when I was in junior high school. It was the best mail program until Mail for OS X. But, I downloaded it for my Outlook Express-weary dad a few months ago, and was disappointed to see that it has gotten much harder to use. If you are on windows, maybe you can oput up with it (its still better than Outlook express), but if you are on a Mac, then definatly use Mail.

    Sorry, but I don't like Mail.app

I first tried Mail as it existed in Jaguar, then gave it a run again when I upgraded to Panther. I just don't like the way it handles (or, it seems to me, doesn't handle) multiple IMAP accounts. All of the folders from every account are all lumped together (unless you completely hide the folders of the accounts). At least now you can see the separate inboxes, which wasn't the case in Jaguar.

I have three accounts that are used for distinctly different purposes. I much prefer the way Thunderbird (Mozilla) handles it - the mailboxes are all accessible, but they're organized according to e-mail account.

BTW Thunderbird has the heuristic spam filters too. For my work account I prefer the server-based solution they provide; but for the other two accounts the adaptable filters are handy.

i agree, i wish the drawer could be sorted by either Mailbox Type (inbox, outbox, drafts, trash) or by Account. However, i got used to it enough, and the junk mail filter is invaluable to me, so it's a good tradeoff.

I really hope that Mail is going to be replaced, along with Appleworks, with a pro suite. It has great features and potential but has some major flaws.

Ditto what Pinto said. Eudora has gotten consistently more of a pain to use. It's actually confusing now (and I like to think of myself as an advanced geek ;)
I LOVE Mozilla's stuff and I like Mail as well. I haven't quite figured out who "wins" in this particular category, but I definitely don't vote for Eudora.
