i thought this might be fun. this person conjectures that the earthquake and subsequent tsunamis were brought on by sonar equipment used to find deep sea oil. enjoy.

Somebody want to test this theory out off the coast of California.

Of course they completely neglect to say that wildlife tends to run away from from the sound of coming earthquakes, so the oil testing may have had nothing to do with it.

169 "Whales and Dolphins" doesn't help much. NZ fisherman theorized long before scientists did that Whale beachings were assosciated with pack hunting by Great White Sharks. Scientists had previously thought that Great White Sharks were solitary creatures. This has since been debunked. Great Whites do indeed hunt in groups and take turns attacking prey. Beaching Whales seems to be a method they have used for quite some time.

I saw this on a National Geographic presentation on a long distance flight, probably from the last time I visited NZ. Pretty sure in fact.

In the feature they tagged Great White Sharks with radio transmitters and were able to establish that they not only hunt together but keep long distance family ties. One mother travelled between NZ and parts of Australia.

It explains why surfers can often be bitten so many times in such a short period. However, Great Whites do not like the taste of Humans, they are just confused by our use of wetsuits which makes us look like seals. Upon biting a human they can immediately taste the difference, but as they usually attack in a pattern you may be bitten multiple times before all of the Sharks realize that you are not a Seal.

Some people seem to work hard at imagining causal relationships, no matter how improbable.

The oil companies for decades used charges of dynamite. Halliburton started out as only an exploration effort--"doodle-bugging"--for oil. Much of this work was done in California as well as in Texas and other oil-rich areas. If there could be any relationship between shock and sound waves and earthquakes, it would have been analyzed long ago via the extensive earthquake monitoring system that long has existed in California...
