Since Elite Dangerous used to run on the "old and busted" 2010 MBP, I assume the new 13" MBP (touch bar model) is up to it. Am I wrong?
Anyway what I did was:
1) Install Elite Dangerous on steam
2) Click play. Got prompted to install Mono.
3) Installed Mono.
4) Noticed that steam still thought I was playing Elite, though there was no window.
5) Quit Steam and re-started. Got launcher window for Elite Dangerous.
6) Entered account info, clicked "Log In"
7) Launcher crashes. Steam still thinks Elite is running. Have to restart steam again.
(rinse and repeat)
I tried:
1) Restarting MBP (no good)
2) Uninstalling Elite and reinstalling. Now I don't even get the launcher window, the icon just pops up then disappears after a few seconds.
3) Checked Mono install by compiling and running "hello world" (OK)
Given that it looks like it is the launcher itself that is crashing, I don't think this is a problem with the relative graphical power (or lack thereof) of the MBP itself. More likely a Mono or OS X configuration issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
