email on iOS 10- where are next/prior email buttons?

In the default iOS mail app, what happened to the next/prior email buttons after the recent iOS 10 update?

I just opened mail app on my iPhone 6s+ and iOS10, and opened an email, top right .. < > touching them cycles through previous and next email.

Hopefully that's what you meant? I usually am using the Gmail app on my phone, so bit unfamiliar with the default mail app

apple screwed up the mail app in the latest ios. it no longer offers 'delete all' and forces you to choose each email manually before they can be deleted.
Who knows what else they screwed up.
