HDMI 1.4 specifies ethernet over HDMI.

I have a Samsung UN46D6420 LED TV connected to a Sony BDVE780W Blu-Ray Home theatre system. Being brand new 3d capable units they should have HDMI 1.4, but i can't see it written anywhere. The fact that ARC is working, suggests the ports are HDMI 1.4.

The Sony has 802.11n wifi, the TV only has wired ethernet (its currently tying up an airport express).

Can i set up the TV to use the internet connection from the Sony using HEC?

The HDMI cable is a best buy dynex 1.4 cable compatible with ARC, HEC etc.

I was pretty sure that both units are HDMI 1.4. However the spec sheet makes no mention of HEC and i'm not sure if it's a mandatory to include it as part of HDMI 1.4.

I tried contacting contacting Samsung support about it, their reply was "I couldn't use a ethernet cable to view blu-rays i had to use an HDMI cable. " They were 100% useless.
