I want to ditch my desktop and only run my laptop and I was wondering if there was a way to set up a Mirror RAID for my Macbook?

An external NAS? Plenty of Mac friendly NAS boxes our there.

Why do you want a RAID?

Why not a periodic backup to an external drive?

A RAID Level 1 will slow your machine down a bit, and does next to nothing to protect against accidental deletion, overwriting or corruption of files, because whatever is done to the original is done immediately to the mirror.

Then what happens when you want to travel? You have to break the RAID in order to run the laptop on its own.
