I have a few 2.5 inch SATA hard drives (laptop drives) laying around.

I am hoping to use them with my MBP externally, but finding an external case capable of holding a 2.5 SATA drive, with a firewire connection has been difficult to find. I want a firewire connection because the USB connection will typically not power the drive as well...so I need the y cable....which I do not want.

I have found a couple of them, typically in the $80 plus range, but I can buy a whole new external drive for pretty much the same price.

Looking more for the $20-$30 range...anyone seen anything?

    Yeah, I've seen those.

I was hoping for a firewire connection, since USB usually requires a power supply or y-cable..

You could go with this, but it does exceed your $20-$30 range.
