    Yo,

I'm going to getting a new MBP next month and I'd like to know if anyone has any advice on getting an extra monitor to go with it. I've got about $1000 to spend and I'd like a space saving flat panel. I'm looking mostly at the Dell 24" at this point, good choice?

Thanks for the help fellow mac lovers.

if you are using it with macbookpro why not an apple one to match ;-) ... But dell probably has the best price and the best performance (+ lots of ports -Firewire). THere are not many other alternatives. HP/LG are much more expensive (than Dell that is).

The Dell 24" is a fantastic monitor, and a terrific choice. You should be ablel to easily get one under your $1000 budget, and if you keep an eye out on the sales, possibly even < $800. I only paid $730 for mine, but the sales run in cycles and the deals haven't been all that great lately. Good luck!

You won't be dissapointed with the Dell. I just received the 2005FPW yesterday, and couldn't be happier with it. It's hooked up to my TiBook now, but as soon as my MacBook Pro gets here that's what it'll be for.

The quality of the Dell monitor is basically unmatched, except for MAYBE the Apple Cinema Display(which uses many of the same parts), which, even with an education discount, costs over $200 more, and comes with only a 1-year warranty.

A guy in my fraternity house here has the Dell 2405 FPW, and loves it. It looks great, and you won't find a better quality monitor anywhere near that price from anyone.
