Description:: Apple sources have confirmed the invitation was a fake. It invited media to a special event in San Francisco's Moscone Center, and read: "Join Steve Jobs and Bono". Beneath these words it carried a red AIDS awareness ribbon and an Apple logo.

This is one way to force a company to help you!

Would kinda look bad for Apple in some eyes if they didn't do something now, as the attention is on them and regardless of the fake invitation, the questions have been asked.

Of course Apple never said they weren't doing it. They just didn't comment on it. Maybe there will be a red iPod. But who knows.

It seems to make such obvious sense for Apple to take part in this. It'd be a shame if they didn't. Creating fake invites about it, however, is tacky to say the least.

A glossy fire-engine red iPod could be a very hot commodity amidst those that can afford iPods as accessories. Red is the new white and black.

I just hope they don't re-roll out that ugly black and red mess of an iPod they made with U2.

I've gotten all I can out of the B&W phase ... a return to colors would be welcomed at this point.

    Ha ha!

    I love it.

I thought it looked real myself--one of the better fake invitations.

Apple Event Invitations are the new Elevator Photos :D

Meh, at least maybe it gave them a good idea.
