i have a 1.33 Ghz 12" powerbook G4 and a 1.25 Ghz Macmini G4. i hear the fan macmini roaring when ever i do a processor-intensive thing. (mostly viewing a video online or in quicktime. i don't have photo shop or any other program that likes the processor a lot.) on my powerbook, i have never heard the fan ever. i already had the harddrive replaced once because i ook the powerbook in and it was diagnossed as being so slow because my hard drive was fryed. i don't use the powerbook as much online but i still never hear the fan. is this something i should go back to applecare again about?

I rarely hear the fan on my 1.5GHz PB. It only turns on if i do something heavily processor intensive like encoding video. The fan isn't loud either, it's a very quiet noise on the top left. Generally it doesn't turn on until the CPU reaches about 140 F or 60 C. Run something like istat pro and if your processor is getting hotter than that without the fan turning on then you have a problem.

The reason the PB fan rarely turns on compared to a PC laptop is because aluminum is such a great heat conductor.
