the only present i got this christmas was a small gift of a pair of shoes and a washing machine, which was a huge gift

what kind of shoes do you all like?

i like the cheap shoes of payless shoe source, and for expensive shoes, i like rockport and carolina (high end workboots half the price of redwings..which are the best but very pricey)

    My shoe of choice is...

Dansko Professional. I've worn these shoes everyday for 2 years and they're still kicking. A little expensive maybe, but well worth the loot. (around $100-110 I think)

    cheers!

Wearing a size 13 shoe, I look for something comfortable. Seems that I never have much of a selection!

I personally like Vans, but they kill your arch.

I run track in Nike cross trainers and Adidas spikes.

Interesting topic btw. Finally something different and amusing all at once.

to support my favorite sweatshops i wear nike

to support my favorite slaughterhouse, i wear a nice pair of italian leather dress shoes

to support a company who's at least partially avoiding selling their souls and caving to the pressure of 100% sweatshop labor, i wear new balances made in the US.

to support the UK vegetarian shoes co, i wear.... "vegetarian shoes"

it's funny how people pay 100+ bucks for shoes that literally cost 10 or less to make/ship. whereas old school converse made in north carolina (i believe) were like 30 bucks... go figure.

Usually I don't care what the heck footware I have on. My year+ old Airwalks (originally $55) works quite fine, even after the heck they've been through.

I have a pair of Steve Maddens similar to eyelikearts and a pair of Bannana Republic shoes for dress, but be warned, never buy shoes from Bannana Republic because the tread rubs off rather fast and marks up floors rather easily.....

I'm not into shoes all that much, but a couple years ago I was at the Outer Banks in NC and sliced my foot open on some glass. So I went and bought a really good pair of water shoes - the neoprene type with the velcro. I use these when ever I go in the water, swimming with the dog in the upper Potomac by Great Falls, in the Ocean, tubing on the James or Shanendoah Rivers, etc.

Those and my Sorrel arctic boots - ones I used in Alaska for a winter campaign - got to keep to feet warm.

    my favorite shoes

I used to love sketchers, then I switched to American Eagle, and now, I love and have a pair of both! :) The sketchers are made a little better and seem to last longer which makes me like them more.

For general kicking around in, black Blundstone 902s. They're safety boots done in a chelsea boot style (pull on, no laces) with a large scuff cap that resembles a cap toe oxford. I wore Doc Martens boots for a few years but found they fell apart after a year or so unless you maintained them real well.

Amen man! size 13 here as well, and i run large. Despite what they tell you at most shoe stores, many good companies *do* make shoes this big, they just don't bother to carry them. My favs are Airwalk (which footlocker claims doesn't exist in 13), Vans, i used to have a pair of sketchers that i liked... i wear Merrells right now, they're the easiest frickin' shoes ever... slip 'em on, i've had the same pair for almost two years and the elastic still holds tight. As for sandals, Birks all the way, tho i want to try their clogs, they'd look a bit absurd on feet this big...

and dress shoes... Florsheims all the way, our local store just went out of business tho! :/

    :)

I wear docs all the time, and haven't had any problem at all...the pair I'm wearing is two years old, my friend's are older, and neither of us have any damage. I've had to replace to laces a couple times, but I don't even have a scuff. Doc Marten's are notoriously long-lasting...you must've gotten a dud.

I bought a $10 pair of nice cheap bowling shoes at modell's once...wore them for about a week, then the soles fell off when I played football in the park with friends
