Hey everyone, my fiance modded a PowerMac G4 and we're now considering selling it. I thought I'd post this as a feeler to see if there's any interest and what everyone's price thoughts are.

    1.7 GHz Sonnet Encore/ST G4
    1.75 GB SDRAM
    ATI Rage 128 Pro, 16MB
    3 Hard Drives (Main = 60 GB, 2 Additional drives = 40 GB and 80 GB), 7200rpm
    USB 2.0 PCI Card
    Pioneer Dual Layer DVD-/+RW Writer (16x 1L, 8x DL)

This thing flies just as fast as my powerbook. The only reason we're considering selling it is because neither of us really uses it too much - he has two computers and I mostly just use my laptop.

You can either PM me or reply here - thanks for your input!

Wow. Such a fast machine being bogged down with such an old video card. o.o'

What model of G4 is this? Sawtooth or Gigabit Ethernet?

    1. Yeah, I know. I complained to him about that already. I think if we keep it, I'll be upgrading the card sometime this fall. It's pretty cheap and easy to do (well, cheap depending on what kind of card you want - I don't do any video editing so I wouldn't need too much).

    2. It's a Sawtooth w/ AGP Graphics.

What exactly do you mean by "modded"? Have you made any changes to the case (lights, fans etc) or just the internal component upgrades ?

If you dont get any good offers, you may want to consider parting it out.

In that case, I might be interested in the DVD drive, as well as the CPU upgrade card.

    jlmk :D

ps...I'm REAL close to you, so shipping would be low $$

Sorry, "Modded" probably wasn't a good term. All he did was upgrade internal components. The case is as it came.

And no, sorry, we're not going to consider parting it out. If we don't get any offers to buy it whole, I'll just keep it as my desktop and/or for ppc support (I'm getting a MB on Friday). Thanks though!

Well a Quartz Extreme compatible card would speed up the system itself considerably, not just help w/ video editing.
