When backing up a dvd via mediafork or handbrake (with h.246 codec) or even while watching hdtv with eyetv, after about 20minutes the power supply gets into temperatures around 160~180 degrees fahrenheit.

The help I need is if some other fellow owners can run these test as well, try backing up a dvd via mediafork or hand brake. The utility I use to measure temperature is Temperature Monitor 4.11

Or watching 720/1080 hdtv via eyetv and measuring temperature.

Just not quite sure if that is a normal, I would really appreciate if some other fellow owners could post there temps while using things that draw power (i.e. optical drive, bus powered eyetv/minitv hd) and cause a little cpu load.

    Thanks in advance.

Hmm, well I can't physically do this (because i don't have an iMac) but! I can say that it's probably the right temperature. Burning a DVD takes some serious hardcore cpu usage. Sorry that i can't completely answer you, but that's the best I can do.. Good luck with what you're doing

Don't know what the normal temperatures should be, but the processes you listed are some of the most CPU intensive things you can throw at it... so that doesn't surprise me that temps would rise.
