okay, so a slight exaggeration... i added RAM and then had to remove it because it didn't work, i.e. prevented my iBook from booting up (thanks, OWC). now, the strength of my wireless connection is 1/2 of what it's been for the past 2 years (same router, same house, same computer). even if i walk up to the router, it isn't full strength, whereas it used to be full strength all over the house. obviously, i had to remove the airport extreme card to get at the RAM, but i would think that i either got it seated or not. i've opened up the system and reseated it a couple of times.

has anyone else had this problem? any pointers? i have applecare, so i can take it to them, but that's a bit of a pain if there's something simple i'm missing.

Most wifi devices have two antennas. I don't know the internal layout of the iBook, but look for a white and a black cable plugging into a card. It's likely one has become disconnected.
