When trying to install FileMaker Pro 6 on my Powermac, I get the following error:
Yes, the machine has more than 8MB of memory. In fact it has 2 GB.

Has anyone seen this? Does anyone know any workarounds?

I will call filemaker when their tech support is available in another few hours.

    Re: FileMaker Pro installation problem.

This is a known issue with the installer for FileMaker Pro.

They gave a couple of options... one is temporarily de-install some memory and then install FileMaker. After the install is done, the memory can be added back in.

The second option is they will send out a replacement CD that may or may not cost money...

What version of Filemaker is this and what OS do you have that you are installing it on?

I had encountered a similar problem where for some reason too much ram can give you a not enough ram error, but this usually only happens on really old programs.

    Mac OS X - 10.2.4
    FileMaker Pro 6.0
And as it states above 2 GB.

And it was a rounding error. Basically prior to the MDD systems, the maximum ram was 1.5 GB on a PowerMac, so no one ran into a problem until after FMP 6 was out.
