Files Not Showing in Finder

    I tried searching for this and didn't find anyone mentioning it before.

    I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on a new iMac (so clean install).

    Periodically when I open a finder window, the files won't display. I can click the documents folder in the dock and can go through various folders, open files, etc. However, if I choose "open in finder" or click on the hard drive to open a folder and then click on documents, it doesn't show anything.

    I've tried toggling the finder preferences, view options, etc. Nothing works. The only thing that seems to solve the problem is to reboot the computer. That fixes it for a couple weeks and then I have the problem resurface.

    Has anyone else experienced this? If so, have you found a solution for it?
