Hi all, we've recently given an unused copy of final cut studio (containing final cut pro 5) to a student. He has said its not working as it says "PowerPC applications are no longer supported". His iMac is running Lion 10.7.2 and meets all the other minimum requirements.

We bought the software in 2007 and used to run in on my intel Mac Pro (bought in 2006) just fine.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue?

Cheers!

Sadly, he's right. To run a PPC on Intel machines, you need Rosetta. Rosetta doesn't exist in Lion anymore.
Solution: Get an external, bootable drive with Snow Leopard and install FCP 5 there... or a second partition on the iMacs internal HD with Snow Leopard.
