    absolutely amazing what people are capable of. :) i hope good things come from this. over population is already an issue.

    Meh, doubt it. We're all so related that a few typos and we'd go from being humans to zebras or something. I'm sure someone would figure out that humans don't have a "black stripe gene."

    Did they find the "stupid" gene? Darwin isn't working as hard as he should and a little eugenics work might be in order to cull the herd.

    OK, that was a joke, but does anyone else see how this could be extremely scary if put to the wrong use? And given human history - it likely will be.

    Well, you know, the Wrath of Kahn and all - he came out of the Eugenics Wars in the Star Trek universe.

    Of course, Kim Stanley Robinson (Mars Trilogy) and China Mieville (Bas Lag books, Perdido Street Station and onward) take different approaches to genetic manipulation.

    Wake me up when they've made the Starchild (obscure V:The Final Battle reference).
