Here is an interesting test that determines where on the political left-right scales you sit. The results should be quite interesting.

    Take the test here: http://www.politicalcompass.org/

Please post your results back here, but don't discuss them or how the test works in to much detail. I will graph them (along with responses from a few other places) and post it later after there are a a few responses.

    Mine:
    Economic: -2.88
    Social: -1.28

    I don't trust the test Economic Left/Right: 3.88
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.97

One of the reasons is it equates libertarianism with anarchy. And well they are not equal. Libertarians believes in laws, they just also believe in individual freedom. Everyone should be free to do what ever they want as long as it does not interfere with another to do the same. That is not anarchy. They still expect speed laws, dui laws, national armies to protect us, national government to regulate trade, etc.

ie this test is made up by a biased individual.

If anything Libertarians are the centrists, the balancing force necessary to keep the extremes of either the left or the right from taking over.

Ha! See, this is why I rarely bother with politics:

    Economic Left/Right: -0.25
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.38

Magnitude is 1.40 after using 2D vectors and the pythagorean theorm.

All right, stepping back out now.

I think that's pretty apparent based on how the statements are worded (e.g. "Some people say that the CEOs of large corporations are baby killers, but I think it's more accurate to say that they're satan's minions."). But it was still a fun little diversion for a few minutes. ;)

Some odd things about this survey...

It makes some generalizations that I have to vote one way on that I would otherwise vote the other on, but for a qualifyer of some kind.

Ex: I feel that there is too much sex on TV BUT I feel that American society is too conservative about sex in general. I think that the conservative attitude leads to the demand for sex-soaked media. Personally I'd like to see the sex trade legalized and regulated. The premise being that without a stigma demand would go down and there would be less stimulus for kink.

Then again I feel the same way about guns and drugs..... And also assume there'd be public health care involved. :p

while i know they said they "don't gather any information on the taker of the test" - i'm courious what information they are gathering. ;)

The author of the test equates libertarians with anarchist so you would have to believe in anarchy to test towards the libertarian end of the scale. :(
