Apple today released MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.9, addressing an issue with system freezes and stalls on the company's latest 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models. Please, Lord, also make this help the graphics extension-related kernel panics I've been experiencing on a weekly basis...
Thats a small update for the freezing issue. Trackpad update anytime soon? Please Apple. I had to reboot my computer 3 times today because of the trackpad issue.

I've seen it on other sites too. Its a big annoying problem. I have to restart my computer to fix it. It has happened 3 times so far today. Its a PITA. And its all caused by the update Apple put out called the "Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0" Never had the problem before the update. After updating to the Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, it happens every day.
I don't have that issue; you should see what files changed with that update and roll-back those files from a Time Machine backup if you have one until there's a fix. Three times in one day is three times too many.
I don't use Time Machine. I just make a copy of my home folder (username) and that backs up my Documents, movies, music, photos... etc. I'm just glad I'M not the only one with this issue.
I've got a mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro but when I download this update it says it is not for my system. Check of system profiler confirms I'm not running 1.9 yet. Am I missing something?
I'm in the same boat. I have a mid-2010 17" MacBook Pro with the i7, 256GB SSD. All stock running 10.6.4, the iWork 09' update is showing in Software Update, but not the EFI update. When I manually download and attempt to install it says the update is not for my system... I have never had so much as a twitch with this machine to this date. No freezing, stalling, nothing. What's up with this?
Then why bother with the new efi? It could be that apple as usual have added just their own platter disc harddrives for this issue. I don't know, but what I do know is that it is never a good idea to install an efi update if it's not needed or be the first to try it.
I have suffered from this freezing issue and would hope this might alleviate the problem. However, it will not permit me to install. I have a third-party Momentus XT drive installed. I wonder if this is the cause of the incompatibility.
If you have to call Apple Support, or go to an Apple Store, they will require that your Software (Apple Software at least) is up to date. Otherwise, they won't help.
Tried that and it didn't work so it's not hard drive related. Wonder why this won't take for some people's putatively compatible machines.
FINALLY! Going to place an Order next week for a 15inch i7 8GB/500@7.2/HR-AG 1 New iPod Touch 4th Gen 128 GB (Hopefully) and FREE iPod Touch 8GB
New MBP, but no update Hey everyone, I can't seem to see this update in my software update pane. I just bought the MBP 15 i5 about 2 months ago. Just curious if everyone downloaded the update via software update, or through the website. Thanks!
I get freezes and beach balls, especially after a fresh boot. Why is it not showing in my software update?!
